Bravo! You have done your Registration for EPR! But now what? What to expect after getting your registration compliances done? Here are some things you should know that will follow post-registration:-

1. Target Fulfilment

During your registration application, you give the data of your plastic packaging consumption for the last two financial years. This plastic packaging becomes waste at some point of time post-use. This waste then is to be collected and recycled responsibly to avoid environmental pollution. As per the Plastic Waste Management Rules, that responsibility is assigned to you as a company. Either it needs to be collected and recycled by the company itself or it can be outsourced to a third party.

2. Real Time Data Upload

The reports of your plastic packaging are uploaded in real time. If you are a Producer/Importer, the sale and purchase invoices of plastic packaging need to be uploaded. If you fall under the category of Brand Owner, then only invoices uploaded by your vendors are to be monitored. Based on these uploads, the targets for the subsequent Financial Year will be decided.

3. Annual Returns

This is the last part of the Plastic Waste Management Compliance. The deadline for annual returns is decided as per the notifications for Plastic Waste Management Rules. For the PIBOs who have applied for registration in FY 22–2023, the deadline for submission of these returns is 31st October 2023.

Now you know what to expect and the next steps towards post-registration of your Plastic Waste Management compliances!
